Fashion extraordinaire, Justin Haynes, has done it again with his Burgundy line, all-black affair! Justin Haynes, CEO of JUS10H, is known for his unique fashions and spectacular events. The event was nothing short of exceptional.
Upon entering the Dunbar Community Center, where the event was held, attendees were greeted with a video presentation of JUS10H photoshoots in Boston and NYC with two of his models sharing their sentiments about the designer. After checking in, the Beat News team and I were escorted to a beautifully decorated room complete with dynamic stage lighting, a runway, two screens boldly displaying "Burgundy, Fall/Winter 2017", a uniquely crafted drape backdrop, and smooth jazz to match the mood of the event.
The hosts for the evening were Abdul Raman-Mohammud and Autumn, who did a phenomenal job engaging and interacting with the crowd. There were giveaways, interviews, contests, and more, facilitated by the evening's hosts.
Before the show began, Justin shared his testimony about the birth of JUS10H after he left another career. Though a difficult and risky decision to make, Justin is sure glad that he did! 8 years, 45 collections, and 10 fashion shows later, proves that he did the right thing.
Justin also shared a heartfelt dedication to the woman who helped him launch his brand and fashion career, affectionately known as "Miss Jessie". He told the story of how he would get her to sew his clothes for him until one day she forced him to sit down and do it himself. Had she not pushed him to grow, he would not be the success that he is today.
Before the models hit the runway, Legacy Dance Studio, displayed their talents through a powerful dance sequence that excited the audience. After the dancers completed their set, we were whisked away to a scene of school children preparing to board a school bus! As the music pulsated through the room, the children took to the runway, one-by-one, sporting beautifully crafted clothing with JUS10H signature patches, holes and color! The children's collection consists of a variety of styles (dresses, skirts, pants, vests, jackets, etc.) to suit anyone's taste.
Before the next segment, the audience got a chance to participate in a giveaway of custom jewelry and more. One winner had to "guess that tune" and even cut a little step to show that she was a worthy winner.
The next segment of the evening involved the adult collection where Justin presented an array of styles, colors and designs for all shapes and sizes. Justin's use of traditional fall colors: browns, reds, soft yellows, tan and of course, burgundy, coupled with his use of a variety of materials: denim, courdoroy, wool and suede, made for pieces that exemplified sophistication and class. All of the models did an excellent job showcasing the clothing. Model, Classy Bryant, stood out with her grace and elegance and worked the runway like the pro that she is!
Overall the show was "breath-taking" and I am pleased that Beat News had the chance to witness fashion at it's best. JUS10H is a force to be reckoned with and we are excited to support him as he takes on even bigger and better endeavors such as, NEW YORK FASHION WEEK!
