BET has caught the Christian reality TV bug! The Sheards is the lastest reality show based on Christians and is proving to be a hit for the network. As we all know, Mary Mary spearheaded the movement with the WE TV show Mary Mary. Preachers Wives and Preachers Daughters are two other shows that have emerged. The Sheards stars gospel powerhouse Karen Clark Sheard of the Clark Sisters and her equally talented daughter Kierra "KiKi" Sheard who is working diligently with her brother/producer J. Drew Sheard to take her career to the next level. The show highlights the family dynamics and the tensions that can arise when people mix business with personal. It also shows the very "real" love that the family has for one another and the support that comes with that kind of love! The show airs every Sunday night at 8pm est.
What do you get when you put four power house performers together in one arena? You get an amazing show that will leave you completely breathless! I had the pleasure of seeing Donnie McClurkin, Marvin Sapp, Israel Houghton and Kirk Franklin perform live at the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut last month and could not believe the amazing show that my $50 afforded me. All 4 performers were on stage at the same time for the majority of the show, supporting and singing background for each other. To me this demonstrated unity and humility because each of them is at the level in their career where they could demand their own spotlighted segment. Taking this unified approach resulted in a show that was seaml...
Dear Soul, What is DNA? According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine: DNA, or deoxyribonucleic acid, is the hereditary material in humans and almost all other organisms. Nearly every cell in a person’s body has the same DNA…The order, or sequence, of DNA bases determines the information available for building and maintaining an organism, similar to the way in which letters of the alphabet appear in a certain order to form words and sentences. (https://ghr.nlm.nih.gov/primer/basics/dna) DNA determines our height, weight, eye color, hair color, and even our personalities. DNA is the essence of who we are and we do not have the power to control our genetic makeup (though we try…) Now, what does DNA have to do with this devotional? I’m glad you asked… David, former king of Israel and a man after God’s own heart, informs us in Psalm 51:5 that as humans, we were shaped or formed in iniquity or wickedness and conceived in sin (immorality, transgression, or evil). In other word...
